So lovely
Ok, so I thought I’d post a few things I would like know before we, you know, implode. So, since it’s apparently at 6pm this evening that this magnificent event will commence. I was wondering which time zone we were working with: Greenwich, Eastern or Pacific time or are we with Jerusalem here? I’m just curious on this matter since I’m trying to organize my weekly schedule.
Since we’re apparently going to all meet our maker (or not) I thought nothing would be more appropriate than the lovely ditty by the Canadian legends, Great Big Sea.

Happy end of the Universe Everyone!
Jessic, my love. (Taken with instagram)
I would never have admitted to even enjoying a beverage from the corporate whore, Starbucks, but lately I find myself willing to sell my soul for one of their Apple Spice Lattes or heaven forbid, a Pumpkin Spice Latte. I guess Cape Town needs more froo-froo coffees. Hell, I’m even going as far as to bite my pride and willingly drink a Grande Bold drip coffee *shudders at the thought*. Toronto, I miss you and all of your charisma. And more so, your variety of caffeine snobbery. <3
So since I have great affections of the Cure, I thought I’d post a damned good song. Crystal Castles worked really well with Robert Smith’s voice to create a song you can’t avoid loving.
It’s been a long while since we’ve heard something from Brooklyn electro-rocker Santigold, and of course who better to release her new track online than Jay-Z? [click on pic below]:
Excited to hear it. Everything she touches turns to (Santi-)gold.
ok kids, here’s how you do it.
make the cookies on this website, then when they are out of the oven, mix equal parts honey and peanut butter (about 1/2 cup of each) and about 3 tbsp of cocoa powder. place it in the microwave and run for 1 minute. Depending on the thickness you may add more honey to adjust the viscosity after it’s come out of the microwave. now place this “fudge sauce” in a pastry bag and pipe it on to the top of the peanut butter cookie in a swirl. place the finished cookies in the fridge to set. eat. enjoy!
It’s been a recent sighting that internet memes have become quite popular. Everyone’s using the word meme from your Facebook newsfeed, Twitter feeds and recently even ‘respectable’ publications such as news sites.
The way I’ve been taught to understand meme-ing (thanks Professor Gaurdini, you were good for more than just your reinterpretations of McLuhan) is that it is the discourse surrounding cultural information alluding to the time and space of which it belongs. Good job. Now what.
In the digital age (I feel this is already outdated considering the times) culture is as flexible as a fad- what happens after Facebook, the life blood of ‘connecting people’? The recent Charlie Sheen episode is a prefect example of the spred. Five people write something, another five will use it (Charlie Sheen’s winning) and so it spread until it beomes an internet phenomena.
Take social media for example, two words with contrasting ideas. Social, being that of a grouping or gathering of persons with interactions; and media, the tools used by one or more people. The core ideas completely juxtaposing.
Is this not hypocritical? personally, I’ve tried very hard for a week to avoid going onto check my Facebook profile. You know what the results were, people we mad. How dare I not respond. What about calling me? Or an email? I still used those.
Anyway, back to memes. Meme, is now purely a digital media related word because every post or website we visit belongs to the culture we belong to. A meme is anything relating to society. A global society in this sense as information can be sent to the world as fast as it was created.
That’s my meme. A blog post.
Happy Wednesday all.
